“Have a little faith”
I hear it and hear it
yet here I am
stranded
waiting for a check to
bounce.
a dream I’ve never had.
Tribute to the last morning
I will delete your contact later.
The sun is relentless
with constant screams
riding my neck
like a jockey.
2012 was my year
our year
now what is left
to do
It shouldn’t matter
but it does.
Filed away
my blue name
till it ran clear.
Mirror shows
a family man
with two kids,
I don’t know
their names.
They ask for mine.
Blink, and they still
stand. Pillow is too soft
Reality too sharp
and the bells too loud.
Can you see
48 hours
into your future?
What would you do?
Change everything
or read the map in front of you
and know the turns before.
I can see 48 hours right now
it doesn’t look good.
To stay away
or run
burn the bells down
either way
it doesn’t look good.
Don’t believe me when I tell you
that the end was near
just not this near.
The rear blurred
blurred lines
blood on the dance floor
and I’ll wait my turn
Today, she begged for me
to pray.
To lay my hands on the ground
off the wheel
and let the man take hold
the man she holds
all her bread for.
Bread of life that she
cherishes and will drop
the night and day for
the man she needs
to carve the path in her name.
I prefer warm bread
so we went to a bakery.
You’re dramatic
sit down Billy you are fine
we will sew it back
I baked our dreams
and forgot to turn
it on.
