Lighter Fluid

I break

everytime I see your heels

chained to the radiator

lighter in my mouth

fluid tied to your hips.

The hills cover our flames

easier said then done

have me on my knees

open the red sea.

Trace the chalk line

the kiss of life

don’t feed after two

you’ll be my boo

leave with me tonight.

Get Out

Pushed to the edge

talked ourselves to death

reflection you used to see

never looked alike to me.

Sayin’ what I wanted

not what I needed

going out my mind

good intentions(never good enough).

The dark light

the blazing ocean

you were a kaleidoscope

the future’s anchor.

Get out

of here

turn it around

or get out-

can we-

do you want to show me how?

The heat at the bottom

the light at the bottom

you were a kaleidoscope

a kaleidoscope.

Sunny D

In the morning

a little extra pick me up

the moment before the day begins

holding onto something

different.

The window of a different day

a different you.

Driving a different car

to a different job

nobody tells you its hump day

go home

wife is still there

kids are different

they called Spot, Raisin instead

the sun will hit the window and catch your eyes in a falling out

and it will be the first time

you’ve seen the Sunny Delight.

Then the glass is empty

you’ll kiss your wife

pet Rais- Spot

and go to work.

Graffiti

Standing in the middle of the street

not knowing right or wrong

chasing the dreams we never knew

something was different, yet nothing new.

Time to kill

was always an illusion

time stood still

and now we never will.

Writing our names along the building side

no place will our hearts be able to hide

I remember how I’ve always wanted to grow old

and now we never will.

The Last Phone

How could you answer

the call

three rings and you blinked once

and off both feet.

The miracle was on the other line

singing hallelujah on this one

counting blessings like pennys on your desk.

The hold beep becomes as violent

as a stuttering heartbeat

waving to a crowd

and I thee ghost

front row seats

to the curtain close

roses passing through me

and a deafening dial tone.

Danger:

Post date on everything

(feeling the mail climb to dangerous hoarder level)

dust hugged the curtains like a war veteran

and I’ll feel jealous as an ex lover.

The pens ink soils my hands

(I promised I’d be better)

the liar blinks past like the Flash

and this-

this is Flash Point

and I’m Nora.

Blood dried on my lip

chewing like tabacoo

and the phone will ring.

Covered by yesterday ad covered

by yesterday’s ad and last night’s leftovers

where you’ll find me-

shaking

holding a pen hostage

waiting for it to tell thee story.

Electric Love

Breaking all the rules

that I once held dear.

Streams of

something new

came through locked doors.

Freight trains turned on their backs

and I’ll feel

this new kind of love.

Flying through the wire

to find my positive

static to my shock

and it bites back.

A new kind of love

breaking the rules I held dear.

It captures thee body

nature takes hold

and we won’t hold the door.

I can’t explain it to everyone

just the ones that can’t either

and will be around the world

will send you a postcard.

#1

Standing till the end

no counter offers

let the waste trail on through

let them pass on by.

You don’t need them.

It’ll be me and you,

walking through the fire

teaching you the ways

holding your palms when the night calls.

Dropping you off on your first date,

telling you it’ll be okay when you go through your first heartbreak

but I’ll always be here.
