over summer
Writing, Ideas, & Stories
i can feel the cold
taking over
like an ice age
over summer
can’t be the breaker of chains
when your own dreams keep you bolted down
masking your insecurity with fools gold power
got you here, begging in front of an earless ghost
to let you free;
but you’ll be here in the morning
with a new plead you can try to be free
from your own self pity
let the world come to you
the power will only keep you here
it’s far away
maybe tomorrow
years from now
just know it’ll be okay
living for a challenge
set the difficulty early
left in a gutter
waiting for rain,
like waiting for a god to remember
what they left here
wallowing in the dry
crying for remembrance
at your temple of worship
not to be left here to die,
you’ll get back to me
probably not, but that’s what prayer is for
the games you played
are no longer on the shelf
just an old joke
told by that weird uncle,
you see once a year
at the cookout
counting seconds
makes the day go by faster
not really poetry
i just think about that a lot
does it watch back
when i turn my back
does it laugh
does it watch
when i’m not around
does time mock humans
for creating an infinite being
that will out live us all
something new
with an old twist
breaking habits
is harder then pulling teeth
we walked away
again again & again
we find the same place
on time or another
we slow the train to jump off
only to chase it back down
i wonder
what we missed
while running on the outside
just missing, this;
the solace of my bed
the warmth of your perfume
carries me
to treetops east of here
a better place,
i’ve seen it in cotton sheets
but never with brown eyes
hold- me
i want the whole world-
you can’t have it
you’re over reachin’
don’t bother tryin’-
i want it all-
stop sleepin’
always dreamin’
this life isn’t for you boy
give up dreamin’-
this world is mine,
all mine-
in for a bruisin’
crusin’ on empty streets boy just lose it
the streets are callin’
come back just lose it-
maybe their right;
but maybe
maybe not
