Smile Back

Can hear them all

lettin’ me know this wasn’t my fall

just a small lap fittin’ for a real strap keep talkin’ that shit and I’ll snap

truth to my word you are all absurd

don’t mind me while I have my third

just passin’ by givin’ you all the bird

and I’ll just keep doin’ me and just let it be

keep grillin’ me and I’ll just smile back

Dirty Triumphs

never clean but always washed

splashin’ in the puddle makin’ no waves

– I’m still restless

played it wrong and got arrested

all that studyin’ and got tested

but we were never bested

tied together and protested

hangin’ in there like we’re infested

detested- went to far and now we’re rested.

move over – –

seven on my arm

I still remember

it was never clean but we’re fired up

we won but was it worth it

dirty triumphs

Killin’ Time

I remember when you lied the first time

told me it was the last time

and we’re sitting here figuring out how to end it for the last time.

We’re pulling hair

killin’ time

and never stopped arguing.

Pipes are red

faces flushed deeper then the bowl

like it’s the last time.

Delicate Crush

Rash in all earnings

a piece of me

in your front pocket

like a locket hangin’ from your belt

and I can’t help but melt

in your illuminating light

with the might of a human ten times

your force. you crush me with a gentle

hand and a delicate crush.

My heart and my legs fold like paper

water under my nose, and I’ll feel weak.

The Taste of Tranquility

Lucky? Only when I don’t play the lotto.

Out of sight out of mind

and one day will find

peace.

It might sound the least

but the best days are when we sit in sync

sit on our couch and shrink

chill a little bit and drink

to the next time

we find

peace.

It’s never on the weekend

or planned

not an accident since we fold

like tracing paper

fate or not it’s not from the maker

it’s just us

when there is

or have

peace.

Shades and a Daiquiri

It’s just a little magic-

opened like a book

and read backwards

no speeding ticket

all in the heat never a cricket.

False alarm-

get the broom and stop the noise

jump the broom and live the noise,

it’s only a matter of time,

didn’t fall to far from the tree

a lesson in history was free

and me,

find me with some shades and a Daiquiri.

The Mute Button

Ever over reach

have ya hand cut by a freak

dig you a ditch and leave ya with a gun barrel.

I’m just kiddin’

had a blackout and was wonderin’

what it would be like

if you were blacked out-

Silence

catch a movie let it be golden

and I will be foldin’

my spare time up and save it for later

your chatter will fuck it up.

I become Leeroy

Making sure this is it-

using both hands

eyes on the road and the golden flow.

I’ll destroy everything.

It’s who I am, but not this.

Walkin’ out of the light to hide my shadow

keepin’ my head up and out of the gallows.

The light of the header

the back of the net like Neymar

but there won’t be a cheer. Maybe not out loud.

A screaming internal battle cry

and I become Leeroy.

Just my name in hand

baby it’s all me it’s all I got-

and she’ll see the shadow,

and walk it in.

Young Sinatra

Just a joke

got it tatted

lifes a bitch and then you’ll die

thats why we get high-

but they forgot the apostrophe

so they don’t own it

morn it

she’s now just a trophy wife

just wanted to live that stellar life

walkin’ and struttin’ down runways

but you’re just a grown up run away

like we were kids again preppin’ for photo day

and we followed your dad to work like a stowaway

foolish way- we made the world our putty

man girl you used to be so funny

now you don’t smile anymore

like when we swore

to keep the deepest down as sophomores

but with less heart

now you’re hollow

and I guess you’ll never know when you’re gonna go.
